Close to the porta San Matteo inside the walls of San Gimignano, you can find our church, the Chiesa Sant’Agostino. The church plays an active role in the daily life of San Gimignano. The church is well-known for the frescos of Benozzo Gozzoli depicting the life of Saint Augustine. These frescos were painted in the 1400s, and can be found behind the main altar which is shown in the photo below.
